Sunflower Growing on Downspout of Eavestrough

It's November 1st and it has been cold, damp and rainy for the last 7 days yet this sunflower plant growing in the crack of the downspout of my eavestrough keeps thriving and it is already growing the flower portion of the plant. I didn't think it would survive this long given the lack of sunshine and the cool and lousy weather we've been having. It must love its location.

The weather forecasters forecasted a warm or above average in temperature fall season, but like usual, they are wrong. According to my recollection this has to be one of the coolest (at times cold) and rainiest fall seasons ever.
