My Niagara Falls HD Video in Autumn

I filmed this HD video during an autumn trip to Niagara Falls in late October 2011. It's actually a video comprised of separate video clips of this natural wonder that I combined into 1 short video to give you a view of the beauty, splendor and incredible force of the Falls themselves but also of the Niagara River, the gorge, the generating station and the American falls in New York state. I should have spent more time filming, but the majority of my time I spent taking photos of the falls and surrounding area.

I prefer to watch all my HD videos that I film on a big screen TV because the image quality is a lot better. I seem to lose a little when I convert my original HD video and upload it to YouTube. Plus the video is darker, which I brighten up a little, but I can never get it to the way I want it to look. I also find that on a LCD TV the colors and lighting appear the way they were filmed.

For picture taking and filming, the best time to visit Niagara Falls is of course when it is sunny. You will get some amazing videos and photos under the sunny weather conditions and the blue sky.

Summer is my preferred season to visit, but it can be very crowded on the weekends so plan your trip for the weekdays. Of course, any season is a great time to visit the Falls as each offers something a little different. Winter is also a good time to visit Niagara Falls. The scenery is very different and worthwhile to view with frozen ice and snow everywhere. You will get some really amazing, different photos and videos for your collection.

The day I visited the Falls with my friends, it was cloudy, overcast and cool. Not the ideal weather for the types of videos and photos that I wanted to take but the weather conditions did offer me a different view of the Falls and a chance to take some photos and videos under different lighting conditions. Unfortunately, the night time video clip turned out grainy due to the lack of lighting and the distance of the object. I was surprised it even turned out at all!

I've had my Sony Handycam HDR-CX100 (HD camcorder) for thirteen years now (2009-2022) and I have to admit it is an amazing little camera. Cellphone video qaulity is now on par, but it took a long time to catch up! It's lightweight and takes amazing HD video both during the day and at night and especially with a tripod. Your videos will look like they were taken by a professional! Also, it will take amazing HD videos at night provided that the lighting is sufficient. Next time when I visit Niagara Falls at night, I will bring a portable LED light. I think that should make the nighttime Falls videos clearer and better.
